1. What is IndianShutter.com?

Indianshutter.com is the world's first website for byuing and selling exclusively Indian Photos and Images.

IndianShutter.com is a forum to upload and sell Indian photographs and images to the world. IndianShutter.com is also a website for buyers across the world to post photo assignments, photo service requests, and buy Indian Images and Photos.

2. What kind of photos or images can I upload on IndianShutter.com?

IndianShutter.com is a site that aims to generate revenues for photographers.

IndianShutter.com is not a site that is meant for people to share family albums and personal photos with friends, family and so on. There are other sites for such purposes. We recommend that you use such sites to share your personal albums and photographs.

IndianShutter.com will accept only images related to India or images that are Indian. We will not accept photos of any other part of the world.

All photographs uploaded have to be at a minimum of 300 DPI, and can be JPEG, TIF, TGA or RAW files only.

3. Will all my photographs be selected for upload?

IndianShutter.com admins will scrutinize each image for various aspects, including its capability to sell and provide value. IndianShutter.com will also scan each image for profanity, obscene content, keywords validity, and other facets. It will take the admins upto 48 working hours to approve an image for presenting on IndianShutter.com.

The decision and rights to approve and display any image or photograph on IndianShutter.com, rests solely and undisputedly with IndianShutter.com only.

No queries or communication in this regard will be entertained.

4. Do I have to pay anything to join IndianShutter.com?


No. IndianShutter.com is a free site.

All photographers can upload unlimited photographs, as per upload rules.

IndianShutter has two types of members : Free and Premium.

Free Membership :

1) 20% Revenues of every photo sold, goes to the photographer
2) 80% revenues of every photo sold, is retained with IndianShutter.com
3) Photographer cannot specify price for an image uploaded.

Premium Membership :

You may choose to opt for any of the following two premium plans to increase your revenue share.

The premium plans come with one key special benefit: Premium members can specify their own price for a photograph they upload.

5. Do you guarantee that photos I upload will be sold ? If so, at what price ?

IndianShutter.com offers no guarantees to the effect that photographs you upload will be sold, or a guarantee that a photo will be purchased by a buyer at a specified price (including Premium Members).

IndianShutter.com will guarantee Premium Members that their photographs will not be sold at a price lesser than what they have specified. IndianShutter.com will not be held responsible for undervalution or overvaluation of the price of a photograph, specified by the premium member. IndianShutter.com will also not negotiate or enter into price issues with a buyer.

IndianShutter.com, however, will be connecting to various photo buying agencies to visit the site to check out and buy photos. This, however, is again not a guarantee to selling any photograph or guaranteeing any value per photograph.

6. How will I get paid?

You can choose to receive payments either as a crossed cheque or directly into your paypal account only. Please make sure that you specify the necessary details properly and carefully to receive payments.

IndianShutter.com will not be responsible for payment not being delivered due to inaccuracies of information provided. Indianshutter.com will also not be responsible for payments lost due to deliver agent errors or omissions.

7. When will I get paid?

A payment tracker software is in place for you to view and track what you have earned as revenues, as per your share plan, on IndianShutter.com.

As per this payment tracker and revenues credited into your IndianShutter.com account, your revenues will be paid to you in multiples of Rs. 1000 only.

Part or mid-payments will not be made, due to any reasons whatsoever, including your request to dis-continue participation on IndianShutter.com.

8. How long does the account activation process take?

On due completion of the registration process, you will receive a confirmation email, containing an account activation link, at the email address you have specified. This email is sent immediately after you complete the registration process.

Your account will be activated after you click on the activation link in the mail, to confirm that you are indeed the owner of the email account specified during the registration process.

9. I didn't receive my account activation code or password.

This is a very, very rare occurrence. One of the main reasons why this happens is due to spelling errors while entering your email address.

The other reason why this happens is because of certain policies in place on your mailbox. Make sure to add our email id --------- to your white list.

If you are not getting our e-mails please contact your ISP or the IT department at your company to fix the issue and have your account info sent again.

Last but not the least, do send us a mail on info@indianshutter.com for further suggestions and way ahead.

10. I can't log in / I forgot my password, what should I do?

You can retrieve your username and password by clicking on the Forgot Password link on the home page. Once you get into the Forgot Password section you have to enter the e-mail address you entered during the registration process. If the email address you have entered matches the one you have provided during your registration process, the system will email you the password on the email address you have specified during the registration process.

If you do not remember the email address you have specified during your registration process, you may send us a mail on info@indianshutter.com. We will verify necessary details and help you activate your account.

11. How can I change my username / password?

You cannot change your username.

But you can change your password and other details by clicking on the Edit/View Profile Link in your Account home.

12. How can I contact a photographer?

You can contact a photographer (only those registered as premium members can be contacted) by clicking on the mail icon next to the photographers name on the image display page.

You can also search for a Photographer in the Yellow Pages of the Shutter Community Section.

13. I can't find a photo I viewed previously on the site / photo I added to my lightbox.

This could happen because exclusive rights to the photograph have been sold or because the photograph has been deleted (deletion can happen only in case of premium members only).

Always make a note of the photographer and the image number when you browse our gallery so that you can contact the person or search using the image number.

14. Does Indianshutter.com have a lightbox feature?

Yes.

You can add an image to your lightbox by clicking the Add to light box link/icon below every image. You would need to register on IndianShutter.com to use this facility.

As a registered user you can create and manage 5 lightboxes.

15. Why did my photos get rejected?

All uploaded images are carefully scrutinized by our panel of expert image inspectors.

Photos are normally rejected because of excessive noise, blur, incorrect format, size, logos or trademarks on photos, etc. Photos are also rejected because of potential copyright violation or infringement issues (like a famous personality photo). Photographs that transgress boundaries of obscenity into porn will be summarily deleted.

Keywords would also be scanned for objectionable content, and any photograph containing such keywords will not be uploaded.

IndianShutter.com will accept only images related to India or images that are Indian. We will not accept photos of any other part of the world.

The inspectors reserve sole rights to allow a photo to be uploaded, for free as well as premium members.

The inspectors' decision is final, and no question or argument will be entertained in this regards.

16. How secure is IndianShutter.com ?

IndianShutter.com is hosted on servers that incorporate the best in internet security. Other than this, Indianshutter makes use of the following policies to protect your work.

1. All Images Uploaded on to Indian shutter are watermarked with Indianshutter.com. Premium Users are also given the facility to additionally watermark photos with their name.
2. All Images are displayed on Indian shutter at 72dpi.
3. No direct access is provided to high resolution images.
4. When a buyer purchases an image, an encrypted link is sent across to download the high resolution image. Only the image that has been purchased is provided in this link. This link stays alive for 48 hours.

17. What is Exclusive and Non Exclusive price?

This feature is available only to Premium members.

A unique Feature of Indianshutter.com is that we allow Premium users to specify the price they want to sell their images at (Please be realistic while specifying the price of your image). You have to mention two prices.

Exclusive Purchase Price: If a buyer chooses this price, it passes all rights of your image, including re-sale rights to the Buyer. You will have no rights to sell the image either on IndianShutter.com or any other image portal, post this sale. This of course doesn’t indemnify the Buyer from usage of image, by people who have purchased it using a "Non Exclusive Purchase" option earlier, on IndianShutter.com or on any other similar portal. If a Buyer chooses this option, the image will be deleted from the seller's account on IndianShutter.com once the transaction is complete. You are also, in case an Exclusive Purchase is made, bound to remove all instances of the image from any other portal or medium you may have posted your images on for sale.

Non Exclusive Purchase Price: You can sell this image repeatedly to different customers.
