Its time to reveal the behind-the-scenes action points of the IndianShutter.com Nature Photography Camp held on 2nd August 2008 at the Borivali National Park in Mumbai. One nature enthusiast took a little time off from his nature shoot travails to actually capture on the job.

A Selection of Photographic Works by Shashwat Nagpal, Sanjay Nanda and Udit Kulshrestha

Sanjay Nanda, Shashwat Nagpal & Udit Kulshrestha :: Three maverick passionate photographers exhibit thier passion on Abstractal Architecture, Nature Monochromes and The Life and Tales in Still Life of Doors.

  • Black or Alive by Shashwat Nagpal
Is Nature Dark too and yet mesmerising ? This was the thought that initiated the study that is reflected in his collection of “Black or Alive” where he explores the ‘dark’ side Nature with his monochromes. With intensive takes for almost a year over different seasons, where his travels took him to the oldest of the monuments and green lands in India, Shashwat questions
his viewers … “Black or Alive”?
  • “lost in time and space”  abstract architectural forms by Sanjay Nanda.
i have always been fascinated by the abstract structures within the jantar mantar astronomical observatory, which in fact, are instruments that were used for keeping track of celestial bodies in space and time. these abstract structures create fascinating graphical forms which change throughout the day with the movement of the sun across the horizon. from the time when the
first rays of the sun strike its precisely calibrated surfaces and bathe it in soft glowing light to create a dream like appearance; to the midday sun, creating strong patterns and bringing our the textures with the interplay of light and shadow; and finally, to the golden glow of the setting sun,
setting the earthy colour of the structures on fire in all the varied hues from deep yellow to orange to ocher to red. the jantar mantar was part of the india’s rich scientific heritage, but today, it has fallen into disuse, and lost, in time and space.
  • The Life and Times in the Still Life of Doors:: Darwaaze’ by Udit Kulshrestha
The visibly invisible, the spoken unspokens, the lives and the tales of a different era. Of glorious times and happy festivities.. Darwaaze:: Part of my works on the Still Life of Doors. Smitten by the tales of politics, faith, locks, auras and personas, captured over a period of 12 months during my visits to Agra, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mathura, Coorg and Purani Dilli, these doors might have decayed but the tales they hold and the tales they tell…are immortal and sometimes mesmerising. An infatuation that never ceases to cease !While the earliest of doors are depicted as early as in some of the the Egyptian Tombs, the oldest door in England dates 1050 and can still be found in Westminister Abbey. Some of the doors in this collection are aged 150 years to 200 years. Whether they survive the tide of time and technology,
the lives and secrets they hold and the the tales they murmur are immortal !

The IndianShutter.com Nature Photography Camp conducted on 2nd August saw a team of 13 people turn up and share a passion for learning and enhancing their skills on nature photography.

Under the Guidance of Siddharth Vaghela (Extreme Left) and Sanjeev Asher (Extreme Right), the camp started off at 8 am with an introduction to basics and essentials in terms of theory. The practicals conducted for 4 hours post that saw the participants go through various learning exercises and tips and tricks related to nature photography.

The camp was overall a success in terms of the sheer dedication and passion of members, and the amount of learning and value addition that each member derived in terms of moving from a “Snapshot to a Photograph”.
